PTA Volunteers Needed for 2018-2019
Our Nominating Committee works as a team to seek PTA volunteers for our upcoming school year. All PTA positions are crucial as we support our school’s programs both physically and financially. SMS PTA is seeking your talents to help our PTA. We have many volunteer opportunities open for the 2018/19 school-year. Please consider signing up to help in one of the following ways:
Our PTA is seeking volunteers to fill positions such as:
Our PTA Board is seeking someone detail-oriented to fill our treasurer position. Great opportunity for someone with accounting experience and requires attending a night-time board meeting, once a month. This volunteer would vote on board decisions, & work as a team with many of our other chairs to complete check requests, make bank deposits, and work to manage funds within our approved budget. This position requires split time between working from home and working at the school, however school hours can generally be set by the individual who fills this position.
Interested in Learning More or Signing Up?
Please contact our Nominating Committee Chair, Heather Rudkowski at: firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more or to sign up. Training and shadowing the current chair for all positions is available. We look forward to working with you! 😊
A message from our SMS PTA President
Dear SMS Families,
Our school year will be finishing up soon and as that time of year approaches, I wanted to take time to recognize our PTA accomplishments, to thank the countless volunteers who have helped us reach our goals, and to highlight some of the student’s favorites provided by the PTA.
First, I want to thank some important people who helped by volunteering their time and expertise on our PTA board, I could not do it without them! THANK YOU Tracy Torregon (Treasurer), Louise Ebert (VP of Ways and Means), Elizabeth Dunn (secretary), Michelle Wadawa (VP of Operations), Heather Rudkowski (VP of Communications), Sreevidhya (VP of Programs), and our staff Representative, Cathy Ketterer. Thank you all for your time, your ideas, and your commitment to our school and students.
Next, I’d like to thank all families who joined our school’s PTA through membership, volunteered your time, chaired a position, or supported a fundraiser during the school year. Your financial support allows us to provide each teacher with a scholarship to start-up or sustain supplies needed. Our PTA contributes funding towards teacher training and provides luncheons to the teachers on Early Release days. Our teachers regularly thank us for those luncheons and we want you to know how grateful we are for that support. As many of you have heard, we provided some awesome Cultural Arts programs this year, including Peter Pan and Shakespeare via a company called Burning Coal. Other student favorites provided by the PTA include field day, the color battle, and PTA run Movie Nights. Our PTA also supplies support to families in need through donations of spirit wear and school supplies. The SMS PTA provides award ceremonies for the Reflections program and student/ parent volunteers. These are just some of the wonderful programs we have in place. We truly could not provide these without the support of our families. Your time and financial support are much appreciated!
As this year ends, we begin looking forward to what we hope to accomplish in the 2018/ 19 school year. We wish our graduating 8th grade families all the best in high school and look forward to new families and students joining us for 6th grade and beyond. We would love to have some new faces join our PTA board and/ or help us chair open positions that will be vacated by graduating families. Please contact Heather Rudkowski at: email@example.com to learn more and volunteer. Our goal is to have new board and chair members train with existing members prior to the end of the school-year.
Thank you for your PTA Support and for sharing your student with us,
SMS PTA President (2017/18)

Seeking PTA Volunteers for 2018-19
Our SMS PTA will begin seeking parent volunteers for our 2018/19 school year starting in January 2018. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in joining our PTA board or learning more about positions available.
We strive to allow our volunteers the opportunity to "shadow" and train with our current volunteers so the transition is smooth. Our board will be seeking a new secretary and treasurer (and possibly more) as these important positions are currently held by an 8th grade (graduating) parent.
We hope to hear from you!
